Farmer2Farmer Conference in Omaha
The 2016 conference noted that the farmer is the ultimate entrepreneur. Farmers take all the risks; selling commodityies, buying inputs, using technology and dealing with finances. Yet, year after year and generation after generation, farmers find a way to persist and make a living.
F2F said the bottom line is that the risk-sharing system and information flow in the ag industry is not equitable to farmers. Most farmers deal with monopolists or oligopolist types of organizations. F2F hopes technology is an equalizer and, if distributed in the right way, should provide increased market competition for farmers to drive down costs and help improve revenue and revenue opportunity on the market side.
Third generation farmer Tracy Zink of Indianola, Nebraska, spoke with AgView.net's Mark Vail at Farmer2Farmer 2016. That interview in its entirety is included with this story.
